Choosing the Right Aftershave

There aren’t many more exciting things in life than getting on that perfect outfit and heading out for a night on the town. However, it’s important that you use the right aftershave – the wrong one will put of everyone: especially that hot girl you’ve been chasing for weeks! Follow these tips and you should end up picking the scent that’ll make you half-man, half-amazing:

Don’t try more than a few at once. When you’re in the aftershave area of the shop, you might see a few blokes trying out every scent in the shop on different areas of their arm: this is a bad idea. After around four different fragrances, your nose will become desensitized to the difference between them. Just try one or two at a time, and then come back later on – that way you’ll make the right decision.

Leave it a couple of hours before buying – even if you really like it! It’s a well known fact that aftershaves (and indeed perfumes) change after twenty minutes or so in contact with the skin. Different people’s skin will react in different ways, meaning that you should always leave it at least that amount of time before buying a fragrance. Otherwise you might find that you get an unpleasant surprise when you use it on the big night out!

Ask the experts. With the huge range of potential fragrances around, we wouldn’t blame you for getting confused. So ask the people who know: department stores (and indeed specialty) shops will know which products are popular, and will be able to recommend them accordingly.

Ask the ladies. In the end, we know that you’re just wearing the aftershave for the girls (that’s why we wear it!) so why not ask your lady friends which fragrances they prefer on men? After all, it’s not like you’re trying to pull them, so they’ll normally be happy to help you out in choosing the right ones.
